At Filible’s Folly this year we will be doing a silent auction to raise funds to get the club’s donated fire truck into service. While what we will have to auction is still in flight, there are over 80 lots so far! There’s lots of questions about the auction that I know folks want to know the answers to ahead of time, so this is an attempt to capture all of them.
So let’s get the most important question for the auction out of the way first: Bidding will open Saturday morning at 10am and will close at 4pm Saturday afternoon. Some lots may be added during the day if they arrive after bidding starts, but no lots will be accepted after 2pm, ensuring that all lots get at least 2 hours of bidding time. If you are just day tripping out for Saturday, please plan to be around at least until 5 to collect your winnings.
How are we handling bidding? Every lot will be identified by a lot number which will be affixed to the item, or items. There will be a box of bid sheets which will have the corresponding lot number, as well as a description of the item, it’s condition as best as it is known, who donated it as best as we know, an indication of it’s Fair Market Value, as best as it can be determined by the donator and/or OROC, an initial bid amount and a minimum bid increment. I hope you’re noticing a trend there… a lot of this information is “best effort”… all lots are sold *as is*, and buyer is responsible for ensuring the safety of flights with any rockets, motors, parts, et cetera. OROC assumes no liability for risk or hazards associated with items won. Winner assumes all responsibility for risk and injury.
Many of the lots will be out for view on Friday, but there are a few that won’t be arriving on site until Saturday. Items are subject to change or be withdrawn without notice at any time.
Each bid sheet then has a set of numbered lines (front and back) that ask you to enter your bidder number and your bid. If you are in spot number one, feel free to bid any value above the initial bid. For every bid after that, you must go at least the minimum bid increment above the previous bid listed. So for example if the bid on line 41 is $50, and the minimum increment is listed as $5, then you must bid at least $55 on line 42, but are free to bid more if you wish. (If we run out of room on a bid sheet I will have additional pages we can attach, just let me know one is full.) All bids must meet the minimum bid requirements, or they will be disqualified. Age or license restrictions may apply to certain items. Bids placed by any individual who does not legally qualify for any item will be disqualified. Valid ID will be required to purchase items with an restrictions. All bids are FINAL. Bidders agree to pay in full the amount they bid at the conclusion of the auction. The bidder with the highest recorded valid bid at the close of the auction will win the item.
To bid you MUST be a registered bidder. Don’t worry, it is not hard to register. We will have a slip you need to fill out with your name and contact information, you will get a small slip of paper with your bidder number on it. KEEP THAT, we may ask for it to confirm winners. You can register to bid before hand, just find me on the field or ask at registration. Note that you must be 18 years or older to bid in auctions in Oregon… parents or guardians can register themselves for their child.
If you are just on site for the day, and need to leave before 5pm on Saturday, please make arrangements for someone to claim your winnings during the launch. If you’re just packing up and getting ready to leave Saturday after 4 and want to take them with you, let me know and I will check the things you’re bidding on first come first served so we can get you going.
We will take a check made out to the club, and can generate and send a paypal invoice, which will allow you to pay via a bank draft (eCheck), paypal balance, or credit card. You do not need to have a paypal account to pay that way. Items will not be released to winners until payment has been received in full. All sales are final.
